All he could hear was a sudden POP....
What began as a dull tooth ache quickly climaxed. The taste of blood and the feeling of sharp remains of his teeth floating around his mouth...
Most people will never come close to this experience. But for Saturation Divers it's a common concern...
Their job is filled with danger, both during and after the work. Reading some of the horror stories is enough to make the hairs on the back of your neck stand tall. (The teeth popping is one of the better problems to face).
These divers are often tasked with working in the deepest depths of the ocean. And what many people don't know, the deeper you go, the more pressure that builds up in and around you. After they complete their task, before they can return to the surface safely, they have to go into a "hyperbolic chamber" where they will sit and wait for days to decompress.
The chamber matches the atmospheric pressure of what they were working at, allowing the nitrogen in their blood to slowly escape. If you've ever been scuba diving, you will know the dangers of holding your breath as you swim to the surface. It's a similar situation.
Imagine being stuck in a boring chamber, nothing to do, and relying completely on the crew outside to take care of you. Counting down the seconds before you can feel sunlight on your body and the fresh air in your lungs. But as tempting as it sounds, this is not a process you can rush. The consequences are deadly. Patience, then, is their biggest virtue.
I'm sharing this for an important reason...
Most people will look for ways to get faster results. Some do this by starving themselves, others do it by pushing themselves too hard, and exercising too often.
Although the dangers aren't as extreme as the divers, great harm can still be done. Injuries, digestive problems, low energy and sex drive are all risks people take when they try to cut corners.
This is why it's rare for people to last longer than 12 weeks on any get fit program...
Real results take time. Lasting habits need consistent practice. And your body has to adapt to the changes you're making.
Remember, you can't get a baby faster by getting nine women pregnant. You end up biting off more than you can chew!
Start slow. Keep it simple. Be consistent and persistent.
In 12 weeks you can look and feel better.
In 12 months you can look and feel good.
In 24 months you can look unrecognisable to the people who knew you before, and you will feel like a different person.
